Martindale-Hubbell Collects School Supplies Needed for Newark, NJ
The first day of school can be tough for kids of all ages, but for some, it's even tougher on their families' finances. Teachers’ long lists of school supplies ranging from safety scissors to scientific calculators can be a real challenge for those with a limited income. We thought we might be able to help — just in time for the start of a new school year.
This month, Martindale-Hubbell employees supported Jersey Cares — a nonprofit organization that recruits and engages volunteers across the state — by donating and filling backpacks with essential school supplies for elementary, middle school and high school students in dozens of New Jersey schools, children’s shelters, and community centers.
Martindale-Hubbell’s participation in the “Build a Backpack” school supply drive was a huge success, with employees purchasing more than 50 backpacks and filling them with everything from crayons and glue sticks to notebooks and protractors. We thank all those employees who donated as well as Jersey Cares for providing us with this opportunity to help kids in New Jersey get the supplies they need.
From Vanessa Martinez, Event Services Coordinator at Jersey Cares:
Thank you so much for participating in this year’s School Supply!
Thanks to you and your great company we were able to fill a request for a social service agency in Newark, NJ. Your donations will definitely come of great use to the participants of the agency.
It’s our hope that these children have the tools necessary for a successful school year and their families have one less thing to worry about.
Because we loved working with Jersey Cares on the school supply drive and we support their mission to help families in need, we are excited to partner with them again in October for their Halloween Costume Drive. Martindale-Hubbell will begin collecting gently worn and new Halloween costumes beginning this September.
Enjoy the rest of your summer!
